What God said to me – Nothing makes a parent prouder than for their children to have great success and accomplishments that bring honor to the family name because they feel like it reflects on them. Conversely, when children’s actions are notorious it also reflects on the family name, only negatively – think Adolf Hitler, Charles Ponzi, John Dillinger, Lee Harvey Oswald – no matter how wonderful the parents might have been, the view of society is negative because of the children’s actions. In the book of Romans, Paul wrote how the Jews touted the fact they were My chosen people and how I had given them the Law, but they themselves didn’t follow the Law. They boasted in the Law, but in their breaking of the Law, they dishonored Me and blasphemed My name among the Gentiles who were the very people they were supposed to reach. Similarly, there are many who loudly tell the world they are Christians, but their lifestyle is ungodly and in doing so they blaspheme My name – their hypocrisy brings dishonor to Me and turns people away from seeking Me. You must purposely live godly lives so that people will see your good works and glorify Me. When you live this way and lift up My name, I will use you to draw people to Me.
