Isaiah 22-24, Galatians 2:17-3:9, Psalms 60:1-12, Proverbs 23:15-16

What God said to me – Have you ever walked into the back door of a house and seen a row of pegs on the wall holding coats and hats and keys?  If the pegs are not securely anchored with something strong like a toggle bolt, the peg will eventually give way, and all the stuff will fall to the ground.  Two pegs may look equally secure, but it is how they are bolted and what they are bolted into that makes them secure.  Isaiah prophesied about two servants of Hezekiah – Shebna and Eliakim who he referred to as “pegs”.  Shebna, while appearing to serve his king actually served himself – he built up his wealth and possessions – he served for what he could get out of it, so he lost his position and was pulled down from his station when I judged him – his ‘peg” pulled out of the wall.  Eliakim, on the other hand, faithfully served his king so he was raised up to replace Shebna and was rewarded with power and blessing for his faithfulness.  His “peg” was driven firmly in place.  So, what about you – is you “peg” anchored in serving yourself and working to bring glory to yourself or is it anchored in Me.  So many people do only what makes them happy or successful or prosperous or brings them glory – the problem is that those things are all temporal and in the end the peg will pull loose and everything will collapse.  Make sure the things you hope for and do and pursue are anchored in Me so they are eternal and will hold fast and you will be like a peg in a firm place, anchored in My house – anchored in Me.
