2 Samuel 9-10, Psalms 110, Romans 13

What God said to me – How are you known within your community?  Are you known as someone who keeps their word?  Are you known as someone who is always willing to help – who goes above and beyond?  Or are you known as someone who never has time to help anyone else?  My children should be known for their love and willingness to reach out and help others even without being asked.  Because of David’s covenant with Jonathan, David searched for ways to minister to Jonathan’s children after his death.  He was proactive and looked for ways to be a blessing.  If you truly love your neighbor as yourself, you don’t have to worry about fulfilling the law – you’ll automatically be keeping My commandments and pleasing Me.  “I AM” love and when you love others this way you look like Me.

2 Samuel 7-8, Psalms 109, Romans 13

What God said to me – Out of all of the nations on earth I chose Israel to honor and to be the nation I would use to show the world who “I AM”.  Out of all the young boys in Israel I chose David, a simple shepherd, to lift up and become king and to establish his kingdom forever.  Out of multitudes of people on earth I chose you to be My child and that alone should cause you to fall down before Me with gratitude and worship.  You’ll never be able to comprehend why I choose one and not another.  Israel had done nothing to cause Me to choose them.  David had done nothing to cause Me to choose him.  You did nothing to cause Me to choose you.  I choose who I choose in order to bless those I have chosen and to demonstrate My sovereignty and show Myself to be God.  You just trust Me and be grateful for My choice.

2 Samuel 5-6, Psalms 109, Romans 12

What God said to me – The news is full of stories of riots and protests and crime and people doing unspeakable things to one another and you cannot escape it without totally withdrawing.  Tempers are flaring and people are boiling over with rage whether it’s on the roads you drive on or in the streets of your cities or even in your own families.  It’s easy to fall into that same trap especially when the values and traditions you treasure are being denigrated and torn down.  You however as My child have resources that they do not have.  You must purposefully spend time in My word and allow Me to renew your mind through it.  As you do I will give you the grace to respond with love and kindness even in the midst of persecution.  Don’t pay back evil for evil but bless and don’t curse and as much as possible be at peace with all men.
