Jeremiah 32-33, Proverbs 3:18-35, 1 Corinthians 11

What God said to me – I called Jeremiah to warn Israel of the judgment that I was bringing against them because they had turned from Me.  I told them very specifically through Jeremiah that the nation of Babylon would take them captive for seventy years.  Yet even when the armies of Babylon were surrounding them and besieging them for months, they refused to believe.  King Zedekiah even had Jeremiah imprisoned for continuing to tell them about the impending judgment.  I have called My children to be watchmen on the wall and to warn the world about the approaching judgment because they have rejected Me.  Don’t be surprised when the world’s response is the same as that of Judah and Zedekiah.  Don’t be surprised when they attack you as the messenger because they don’t want to hear or accept the message.

Jeremiah 30-31, Proverbs 3:1-18, 1 Corinthians 10 to 11:1

What God said to me – Most of modern society would never consider itself to be idolatrous because that is primitive and pagan.  However, most sin, but especially rebellion and immorality, is rooted in idolatry because it is the conscious rejection of My word and My sovereignty in your life.  It is making yourself God and ruler of how you live and what you do rather than Me.  It is the rejection of My word as the plumb line by which you measure your actions and attitude.  My word details how Israel succumbed to idolatry in rebellion and practiced immorality and they paid a great price when I judged them.  These things were written as an example and instruction for you so you wouldn’t fall into the same trap, both personally and as a society.  Sin is captivating and once you are ensnared it is difficult to escape so you must be careful to guard your heart and mind.  All addiction begins with just dabbling so you must purposefully reject even the hint of sin.  Be careful when you say “I would never” – remember pride goes before the fall.

Jeremiah 28-29, Proverbs 2, 1 Corinthians 9

What God said to me – Why are you in My word?  Is it so you can check having a quiet time off your list and feel like you’re a good Christian?  This time with Me should not be a duty to be fulfilled or a task to be checked off a list.  It should be a time you eagerly approach in anticipation as you spend time with Me and I teach you and give you direction.  Do you want to have wisdom to be able to deal with all you will encounter today in a way that is pleasing to Me?  Do you want to understand what “I AM” doing and trying to accomplish in your life through the things you are going through?  Then be attentive to Me as I speak through My word and open your heart to receive it.  Cry out for discernment and understanding when you don’t get it.  I have promised to give you wisdom when you lack it and you cry out to Me.  I will direct you in the way you should go if you earnestly seek Me.  This time together is important!
