Deuteronomy 8-10, Psalms 42

What God said to me – Don’t ever forget that the difficulties you encounter in life are as much from Me as the blessings are.  Going through deserts is difficult but it is during these times that you learn to trust Me.  When blessings are poured out upon blessings, you begin to take Me for granted and you begin to have an exalted view of yourself.  Going through difficulties causes you to see the areas you struggle, and you learn to cry out to Me for help and guidance.  During these times you must learn to be grateful for the smallest blessings.

Deuteronomy 5-7 Psalms 40

What God said to me – Just as I brought Israel out of Egypt in order to bring them into the promise land, I brought you out of your old way of life in order to bring you into a new life with Me.  This new life is a “way” of life – not a one-time thing and then you go your own way, doing your own thing.  It is walking with Me, fellowshipping with Me, sharing with Me, and listening to what I have to say.  You must possess this new life and embrace it completely.  Don’t just pass through on the way to the other side.  Enjoy the fruit of this new life as you go through it with Me.

Deuteronomy 1-4, Psalms 40

What God said to me – You have circled this same mountain for too long – it is time to move on with Me.  It’s time to put aside all the frivolous things of this world and get serious.  Time is short – I won’t tarry long.  You must live in such a way that you won’t be ashamed at My coming.  Quit being caught up in the same old sins and habits.  Repent and move on.  Focus on Me.
