Leviticus 16-18

What God said to me – I set Israel aside as Mine and I instructed them not to practice the things of the nations around them but to live as I instructed and to worship Me only.  The same is true of you.  You are in the world but not of it.  You must live as I instruct and worship only Me.  When you live as the world around you, you begin to pull away from Me.  You don’t even realize you are worshipping other gods.  You try to fit in and be a part, but in doing so you deny Me.  You can interact with them but you must not participate in their lifestyles and beliefs.  You are set apart for Me.  As you keep yourself apart, you also stand out.  They know you are different. They know you are Mine.

Leviticus 14-15

What God said to me – Cleanliness is important both physically and spiritually – that is why the law is constantly stressing washing and cleansing.  It’s easy to clean the physical but only I can clean the spiritual.  In order to be cleaned spiritually you must come to Me and let Me cleanse you.  You must spend time in My word to be washed with the water of the word.  You don’t understand the inherent transforming power of My word.  In it you’ll find all you need for life and godliness but in order to find it, you must spend much time in it reading and studying and meditating.  You must be willing to accept and respond to the truths you discover in order to be washed in its power.  Come to Me and I will cleanse you.

Leviticus 11-13

What God said to me – It is just as impossible for you to keep your heart always clean as it was for the Israelites to obey all the laws on diet and cleanliness.  It is impossible to live in the world and not come into contact with things that are not pleasing to Me.  You cannot isolate yourself entirely from sinful things and behavior.  Television, commercials, movies, books – even just walking down the street – you can guard your eyes and ears and heart but you still have inadvertent exposure.  That is why you must always walk closely with Me and stay in My word. You must learn to see all the things around you from My point of view.  Pray without ceasing and be quick to repent.
