Joshua 1-4

What God said to me – Memorials are important to remind you of the way I have worked in your life.  Set up markers as a reminder and a way to draw attention to My goodness and faithfulness.  It doesn’t have to be a pile of stones like Israel erected when they crossed the Jordan on dry land.  It could be a piece of jewelry or an object in your home and when someone comments on it, you can give testimony of My greatness.  It is important for you to remember so you can express gratitude and grow in your faith.  It is important to vocalize to those you encounter that “I AM” your God and “I AM” faithful.  The world sees Me through you – live for Me – speak about Me.

Deuteronomy 32-34

What God said to me – Do you see how “I AM” a faithful God who always accomplishes His purposes and loves His children enough to discipline them when they stray.  Israel was My beloved child and My purpose was to shine through them to draw the world to Me.  When they chose to turn from Me, I judged them to discipline them and bring them to repentance.  My purpose was not thwarted by their disobedience though – I turned to “those who were not a people” and made them My own, the church.  I have used My church to accomplish My purpose to reach the world and draw those who are Mine to Me.  There is coming a day when I will come for My church to reward their faithfulness.  Then I will return to My first child, My beloved Israel, and I will bring them to repentance and cause them to return to Me.  “I AM” a covenant keeping God.

Deuteronomy 30-31

What God said to me – I know your life from beginning to end.  I know your heart.  I gave Israel the blessings and curses not just so they’d know the consequences of disobedience but so they’d know that their blessings were from Me when they obeyed and the curses were My judgement when they disobeyed.  You see when you read this that I knew they would disobey.  Judgement would come.  But I also gave them hope and a way to return to Me.  I never gave up on them and some day they will return to Me.  It is the same for you.  When you stray in disobedience I will discipline you but know that I never give up on you.  I have provided a way for you to always come back.  Repentance is the road home.  I will always forgive.
