Deuteronomy 8-10, Psalms 42

What God said to me – Pride is such an insidious weapon that Satan uses to topple My people.  I warned Israel to be careful to express gratitude to Me for My blessings and faithfulness when they entered the promised land.  If they did not, their hearts would become proud and they would forget Me.  I give you the same admonition – if you are not careful to consistently turn to Me and express your gratitude for all I have done in your life, you will begin to think you did it yourself because of all your own talent and hard work and you will begin to turn away from Me.  Not only must you never forget, but you must consistently acknowledge that all you have and are and have accomplished is because of My favor and blessing on your life.  I gave you your intelligence and abilities – I gave you your health – I gave you opportunities to prosper.  In Me you live and move and have your being.

Deuteronomy 5-7, Psalms 41

What God said to me – You often ask Me why I chose you to be Mine. You, in your humanness, tend to focus on your past and your failures so much of the time that you can’t comprehend why I chose you.  That just shows how hard it is to get away from a works based, earning your salvation mentality.  Look back to what I told Israel – I chose them to be a people for My own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.  I did not choose them because they were the greatest nation or the strongest or the most numerous.  They were small.  They were stubborn.  They were rebellious.  I chose them because I loved them.  It is the same for you.  I love you with an everlasting love – not for anything you are or have done or will ever do, but because of who “I AM”.  “I AM” love and I choose to love you.

Deuteronomy 1-4, Psalms 40

What God said to me – Life is fleeting . . . it passes by in just a moment.  Never forget your days are numbered, not just yours, but the world’s.  Time is counting down so don’t waste it.  Focus on the eternal.  Live for what is lasting, for what is important.  Look to Me in all things for I will show you where your focus needs to be.  Don’t hide the truths I’ve taught you, share them.  Sprinkle My word throughout your conversation.  Speak of your salvation.  Speak of My faithfulness.  Don’t conceal My love but share it.  I direct those to you who need to hear the things I’ve taught you, the things I’ve brought you through.  Walk with Me out loud – others will hear and be encouraged.
