Zechariah 8-14

What God said to me – I know you long for the day of the Lord.  You anxiously read and study everything that says “in that day” and try to imagine what it will be like.  It will be a great day, a unique day like no other.  Yet today is also a unique day – it is the only one like it.  Don’t look past today while yearning for another.  This is the day that I have made – rejoice and be glad in it.  Savor today.  Look eagerly for what I have for you to do today.  Listen with anticipation to what I have to say to you today.  Don’t miss the ministry and joy I have for you today by dwelling so much on “that day”.  “That day” will come.  It is My plan.  It is also My plan for you to live today fully.

Zechariah 1-7

What God said to me – My word to Zerubbabel was “not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.”  This is the same word I say to you.  Quit trying so hard and beating yourself up when you don’t accomplish the things you think you should.  Walk with Me and I will work through you to accomplish My purposes.  This doesn’t mean you should sit around doing nothing.  Do those things that are yours to do in your daily life at school or at work or at home as unto Me.  Be diligent in each task.  I use all these things to prepare you for My service.  I use you as you are faithful in your tasks to minister to others.  I use your time in My word to teach you and prepare you and strengthen you for service.  You be faithful on your part and My Spirit will do the rest.

Haggai 1-2

What God said to me – The remnant of Israel who returned from captivity in Babylon rebuilt the temple at My instruction.  To those who had seen the temple in it’s former glory, it seemed like nothing in comparison.  I told the people to take courage because “I AM” was with them.  It is the same for you.  You look at society where love for Me and serving Me and having a standard of morality based on Me used to be the norm and you grieve for what it has become.  But I say to you the same thing I told Israel – take courage because “I AM” with you.  “I AM” going to shake the nations so they know that “I AM”.  You stand firm in your walk with Me.  You be a witness of who “I AM”.  I promise you the latter glory will be greater than the former.
