1 Samuel 21-24

What God said to me – You are going to have difficulties and trials in your life.  As time goes on and it comes close to the time of My coming more and more people will turn from Me and attack those who are Mine.  You are in My family and I have given you brothers and sisters who are Mine also.  Encourage one another in Me just as Jonathan encouraged David throughout his trials.  Walk with Me and I will encourage you and lead others to you for you to encourage in turn.  All that happens to you is not just for your own growth and transformation, but also so you can come along side of others and encourage them as they go through similar trials.  Keep your eyes open and be alert to see those I bring into your path so you might minister to them as I have ministered to you.

1 Samuel 18-20

What God said to me – Look at the relationship of Saul and David compared to the relationship of Jonathan and David.  One was based on actions and feelings and the other was based on covenant and devotion.  Are you a Saul or a Jonathan in your relationship with Me?  Do you come to Me when you feel like it or when I have answered your prayers the way you wanted?  Or do you come to Me because you are wholly devoted to Me no matter how things are going in your life?  I want a relationship with you based on covenant and devotion, not based on your ever-changing emotions.  I want you to trust Me when your prayers are not answered in the way you want or expect.  I want you to be devoted to Me not because of My performance, but because of your love for Me.  “I AM” devoted to you not because of your performance, but because of My love for you.

1 Samuel 15-17

What God said to me – Partial obedience is still disobedience.  When I tell you what to do or give instructions, you must obey fully and not make excuses or justify not totally obeying Me.  Saul justified his disobedience by saying he did it for Me as if his plan was better than Mine.  “I AM” God and I have a reason for everything I do.  It is not your place to change My instructions or decide when and how you obey.  You can’t “makeup” for disobedience by some other sacrifice or service on your part.  I desire My children to be wholly devoted to Me.  Let Me do a work in your heart to transform you.  I alone can change your heart, you cannot so quit trying and turn to Me and allow Me to work in you.
